Torso and or Chest Support

Recumbent trikes provide a great deal of torso support for all riders. This is due to the shape and angle of the seat.

On a normal bicycle seat, the rider is perched on top of a relatively narrow seat. However, a recumbent seat supports the rider’s entire back. An added neck rest provides additional support for the neck and head when needed.

If you need further torso support, there are a couple of customizations or accessories that can be added to a recumbent trike effectively and simply.

Torso Support Via Seat Belt

A seat belt can be added to your recumbent trike to provide extra support and safety.

There are different options when it comes to seat belts. You’ll find explanations of the both 4 and 5 point seat belts in this link.

Another option when providing torso support is the addition of a Pelvi-Loc belt. A Plivi-Loc belt provides more structured support.

This torso support is easily adjustable. The incremental ratchet allows the belt to be adjusted so that it provides the correct tension.

Incremental adjustments are important as it means the belt can be changed when needed to accomodate different types of clothing (e.g., thicker jackets or thinner shirts).
